Dear friends,
My dear, dear Sabine passed away in June last year shortly before her 80th birthday after a long and serious illness. But we continue to chat cheerfully with each other as we have done throughout our 53 years together. After completing various formalities, the Salzburg Public Order Office allowed me to keep her urn at home, just as we had cared for each other throughout our lives. The container, made of Swiss stone pine, stands in the living room near the heater, as my wife lately had always felt a little chilly.
In designing our website, Sabine was responsible for the English translation and editing of my novels. In doing so, she saved me from some rash decisions, such as an overly obvious similarity in the description of living personalities from my hometown in the Principality of Schaumburg-Lippe. Without her, it will unfortunately not be possible to complete and publish the two remaining volumes of the Snakie Quartet, which are currently in progress. Like so many things in both our lives, they will have to remain unfinished for valid reasons.

A writer should be aware of the eventuality that he might disappoint the readers with his work. But he should not be obliged to explain himself, according to poetical liberty. Seriously written literature without any compromise includes incalculable risks for both the author and the reader.
An extensive text, created through many years and modified innumerable times, which in the moment of publication is entitled a novel, although the definition fragment would be more appropriate, inevitably contains inadequate written passages. Following the examples in the narrative style of the German Romanticism, in such a case the author should put away his pencil and join his protagonists for to learn how the matter could go on. Imagination will not always have the ability to manage this trick. My dear mother, who was very fond of excellent literature, explained me that the phenomenon might be similar to the blind spot in our eye, the point, where the nerves turn into the brain. It must be present. Or we could not see anything.
